Committees & Roles

Business Retention & Development

  • Develop contacts, open lines of communication w/ storefront businesses;
  • Create “Westgate List” of neighborhood storefront and home-based businesses;
  • Provide support, services as appropriate for potential and existing business owners;
  • Promote Westgate area to potential new businesses

Communications

  • Provide content for and assist in the development of the Westgate Neighbors Association website;
  • Publish monthly or bi-monthly newsletter and two-week calendar of neighborhood events for the Westside Messenger, website, and membership email updates;
  • Contact media for events, items of interest to the Westgate area;
  • Coordinate communications to outside sources on behalf of committees, chairs and leadership;
  • Monitor and assist communications between committees;
  • Assist with grant writing;
  • Create and maintain promotion materials such as brochures, advertisements, PSAs and press releases

Community Relations

  • Develop permanent, working relationships w/ area schools and district leadership;
  • Support student academics and sports programs;
  • Improve and increase positive interaction with other community groups;
  • Work to strengthen relationships with our Westgate neighbors

Events

  • Coordinate volunteers for Westgate Neighbors Association events;
  • Provide volunteer assistance to outside organizations when appropriate;
  • Identify, develop and coordinate events

Good Neighbors

  • Provide support, special help to neighbors in need;
  • Develop and distribute “Welcome to Westgate” packets for new neighbors;
  • Address, communicate neighbor/property concerns;
  • Communicate, support Westgate area churches

Legislative Liaison

  • Communicate area concerns to governmental officials, councils, commissions;
  • Represent Westgate Neighbors Association at governmental meetings;
  • Assist and/or represent residents, businesses and committees with governmental procedures, documents or applications when appropriate;
  • Notify Westgate Neighbors Association of relevant grant opportunities, and assist with grant applications or presentations when needed

Membership & Fundraising

  • Oversee and monitor Westgate Neighbors Association membership drives and collection of dues;
  • Coordinate Westgate Neighbors Association membership table, distribute membership materials at outside events;
  • Develop and maintain membership applications and member directory;
  • Assist with grant applications and ‘non-event’ fundraising activities

Parks

  • Serves as a liaison to the Friends of Westgate Park
  • Serves as the liaison to the Block Watches of Westgate and the surrounding neighborhoods
